Hands of the Clock

Nick Stewart has written a few songs that aren't tales of seduction, (okay maybe three) and this is a song about mortality and does contain the immortal lines, "Sands in the hour glass, fall like tears, of forlorned love."

Let Yourself Go

In this song of seduction and submission, Nick captures the frisson of breaking down mental barriers so that the physical barriers can be crossed. An aura of protection is cast so that the souls can unify in physical bliss. "Tell me all your hopes and dreams, so I can fulfill them, like I want to fulfill you..."

Into The Light

So, "Out of the darkness and into the light," is common theme of evangelical conversion to believing that which is not true (or even believable). This is a much more believable tale. "All the answers you have questioned, all the questions lay threadbare," and "On the altar of disenchantment, sacrifice your anxious past," certainly reflect this anti "enlightenment" theme, plus this song has really cool guitar playing.

Prenez-Moi

Not to be confused with the 1992 song, Take Me, which will eventually be remixed, this song of seduction and submission is a blatant recapitulation of the themes of that classic disco tune, "Voulez vous couchez avec moi." Are you ready Toulon?

As one of the more recent songs, it features more industrial grit than other works. More grit is great, unless you are varnish.

For The Wicked

Nick Stewart originally wrote these lyrics in the late 1980s while he was the singer for the Washington, D. C. Gothadelia band, Fear of Man. They were inspired by the 1979 printing of the book, The Spiral Dance, by Starhawk and of course, the obvious title reference. On moving to St. Thomas, Nick found a 20th anniversary edition of the book and there is a good chance we will here more of The Absolution's music inspired by this lady's insightful writings.

Scrutinize

"I awake from uneasy dreams, because this world is not as it seems." Okay, so here is another song not ostensibly about seduction but perhaps not being seduced by common beliefs and superstitions. This song has some of the best drum breaks and some really cool droning guitar parts.
